As of January 12th 2016 Microsoft stopped supporting Internet Explorer 8, 9 and 10. Users of these old browsers will no longer receive security updates, compatibility fixes and technical support. Only the latest version of Internet Explorer, IE11, will receive this support on Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 meaning that the old versions of the browser will be left with vulnerabilities in their security. Websites will no longer be developed to be compatible with old versions of the browser.
If your automatic updates are turned on then you most likely have already updated to IE 11 without knowing.
